Acting Chief Michael J. Quinn, Biography

Waltham Fire Department Acting Chief Michael J. Quinn currently commands more than 160 members of the city's firefighting force and its support staff. Mayor Jeannette McCarthy appointed Quinn to the position September 29, 2011 following the retirement of his predecessor, Chief Richard Cardillo, in July of 2011.

A Waltham native and long-time resident, Chief Quinn joined the Waltham Fire Department in June of 1978 after first serving on the Sudbury Fire Department. He rose through the ranks of the Waltham Fire Department holding positions as a Firefighter, then promoted to Lieutenant on Ladder 1 June of 1986, promoted to Captain of Engine 4 in May of 2001 and promoted to Deputy Chief in December of 2002 for Fire Suppression Group 2.
